Software Installation (LabView)

Welcome! First, you will need a Mac or Windows computer with x86_64 or amd64 (Intel/AMD) architecture.
The new Macs with Apple Silicon chips will not work with the software, unless you install a virtual machine.

Here are the exact specs:

• OS: Mac OS X 10.6.0 Snow Leopard to macOS 10.14.6 Mojave — Catalina and Big Sur are not supported as 32bit apps cannot run.
• at least 1.5 GHz CPU (intel x86_64)
• 2 GB available hard disk space
• Available USB port or Bluetooth 2.0 or above
• Minimal supported screen resolution – 1024 x 600

Windows PCs:
• OS: Windows 7,8,10.
• 1.5GHz CPU (preferably Intel x86_64, but can also be ARM on a Surface Pro)
• 2GB available Hard disk space
• 1+ USB ports or Bluetooth 2.0 or above.
• Screen: 1024×600 (at least).

Note that most computer screens of laptops are at least 1080p resolution, which generally is 1920×1080. The screen requirement is almost always met. Also note that there are versions of the software for Chromebook, android, windows touch devices, and iPhone/iPad, but these are cut down versions and are more or less useless.

When downloading, be careful to get the right version. For this reason we have posted here the links to download:

Once you downloaded them (which shouldn’t take too long for a fast internet connection; they are each about 1.0GB), you need to open the installer. On Mac, open the dmg to mount the disk image, and then control click the package icon and click open to start the installation.

You will then get a window asking for confirmation:

You need to click open, and then enter you admin password (unless you are logged in as an admin).

On windows, double click the .exe file open the installer. You may have to enter an admin password.

On both platforms, continue by following the installer instructions. On Mac, you want to click customize installation and choose everything:

On windows, you will have a moment where it will ask you what version to install; you want to choose TEACHER EDITION.

Once installed, the app LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 TEACHER Edition will appear in your Applications Folder if you are on Mac, or the Shortcut of the same name will appear on your desktop if you are on Windows. Alternatively, windows users can find the app in the program files directory (x86_64) and then search for lego education and there it will be.
